Meals for WOM 5

Let's start the food discussion.
Last few years, we have planned 3 meals. With 9 men, that's 3 each. Seth, check my math.

Kevin threw out the idea of eating in the lodge on Saturday night. Only downside of this, I doubt they are BYOB.

What is the concensus?

As a reminder, here's the pairings from previous years:
-Ross/Andrew/Aaron - Saturday Breafast
-Adam/Kevin/Brandon - Saturday dinner
-Justin/Landon/Seth - Sunday Breakfast

Or we could divide 2 meals among the 9 of us and do the restaurant once.

There are activities at the park that we may wish to partake of, namely a lit tennis court, and a basketball court. There is also free archery, but we would have to provide our own equipment. Also appears to be a horseshoe pit on campground 1. Check out the facilities.

I vote for not eating at the lodge. I don't really want to have to clean up to see the public.

I love having the 3 groups of 3. And I am glad you remembered no lunch on Saturday. That was a mistake we won't do again.

3x3 basketball tourney. Who's bringing the ball.

I really just want to see Kevin on the court.

Not to speak for Aaron and Ross (his silence on the blog is making me question his existence), but maybe we could switch it up this year. Not the groups, but the meals.

Memphis/Missouri boys take Saturday PM.

JDL said...

That first year when we had lunch and dinner on Saturday, that was the worst feeling. I knew I shouldn't eat, but it was dinner. It was like I had to.

Jones said...

I agree with andrew, I want the same group, but a different meal. However, I will do the same if everyone else wants that.

Andrew said...

Seth, unfortunately, I've called dibs on Saturday dinner. So that means you can take breakfast or breakfast.

Now, you can lie to yourself and say it's not breakfast, but we all know. So what's it gonna be?

Red said...

With the Memphis Missouri clan taking Saturday PM, looks like J-Lo and V shaped torso and I will take a breakfast. Saturday works.

Also, I have sitting in my office the paperwork to form the investment club, EDNAFUND. Since our last conversations we have men going to graduate school and others possibly having babies in the future. What's the feeling on the fund and everyone's participation? I'd hate to get to the end of my powerpoint and realize no one was interested.

The Nunley said...

I got the b-ball! I vote yes on the tournament. I am in still in. I take lunch. Ok we will take breakfast.

UNtil THen

JDL said...

I am going to get an ax/log splitter today, and will bring some firewood to split. Quite manly if you ask me.

Someone better make bacon so we can start the fire with some grease.

JDL said...

On the Ednafund, we just don't have the extra cash to invest. It kills me because I know we should be right now.

Jones said...

I can bring a chainsaw if we need it. Just let me know, it might be a nice replacement for the missing guns.

Landon - Can I roll over my money in TCRS into the EDNAFUND and still shelter it from penalty?

Does everyone still like Monkeybread?

JDL said...

If anyone is wondering, it's me who deletes the deleted comments.

I just hate seeing them, falsifying the comment count.

I do still live Monkeybread. I, however, will not make myself eat so much as I did last time, causing regurgitation.

Andrew said...

I'm in on the EdnaFund if it can be an "invest when you can" type thing with no set amount, if that makes sense.

I guess that could get hairy when it comes to paying dividends, but surely you accounting people can account for that---I'm guessing each member's dividends would be their percentage of their basis in the fund.

Justin, thanks for keeping the Ednablog honest.

Seth, to answer your TCRS question:
http://www.tn.gov/treasury/forms/tr0026.pdf

Jones said...

Thanks Andrew, what did you do with your TCRS money when you ent to ECS?

Andrew said...

It's still there. I'm about to roll it over to an IRA with Landon during the financial advising portion of WOM V.

The Nunley said...

that is what I shall be doing as well. but not till I actually quit.

Andrew said...

Landon, I'll be expecting a referral fee.

Andrew: I feel you are having a laugh at my expense with the basketball court comment. Laugh all you want. Just remember what happened last time a basketball got between my hands and your face.

Food: I don't really care what we do about food. Another thing to keep in mind besides the inn is Domino's. There is one right down the street by the theater I think. Just let me know whose team I'm on and how much money you need to make it happen. I can help clean up, but you'll have to cook unless you want to eat carbon. I can also hand you utensils as needed. I can bring coffee too.

Ednafund: I'm in.

Monkey Bread: hail yes

Rides: I still need a ride. We're a one car family. Seth, can you pick me up at my house. There is a tank of gas in your future if you can.

Sleeping: Does anybody have an air matress? If I remember correctly, we're going to be a bed or two short.

Electronics: Will there be Rock Band, Xbox, etc...? Also, I think this place has wireless, but I could be mistaken.

Shirts: How much?

Cabin: What did the price come out to?

Aaron said...

Is Ross even coming this year? He must be out of the country on a CIA "business" meeting.

Andrew and Ross if you are reading this. Let's figure out what we want to bring.

Red - This is going to be as good a time as ever to get in the market! Although the way things are going we might even be better off to wait for 6-12 months.

Numbnuts - mine were during my bike ride today.

Kevin - can we get some red alert going this year?

B - I want pics of your girlfriend. If you not with anyone then just bring me hot pics of some other girl and make up a good story.

Seth - I can't wait to to see how many pull ups you can do at the playground.

JDL - it's nice to chat with you every once in a while on gtalk.

All: does anyone read my blog? I'm trying to post a little more lately.

All: What time are you all rolling into the Trace? I am doing a tour of Tennessee the days before and will be coming from Knoxville on Friday but should get there early afternoon.

Kevin said...

I'll see if I can find the Red Alert disc.

Andrew said...

We live in Memphis, so I will surprisingly throw out BBQ. If you want, I'll take care of it all...work on reimbursement later.

Aaron, I read your blog when the Ednablog tells me you have a new post.

I am hoping to get to the Trace early afternoon as well.

Jones said...

Kevin, I will need a ride also. I have some meetings at Vanderbilt on Friday, but I am hoping the last of them will be at 3:00. Please tell me there will be people leaving after 3, if not Kevin and I will thumb it down there. Landon, can you drive us? I can help with gas also.

Red said...

I am riding with Justin of Lipscomb. I believe he has a sweet ride. I bet Brandon is coming late he probably has 3 closings after lunch that day. I heard through the grapevine that he even flipped a portion of the cumberland river and cleared 300k. Pretty soon he'll buy the whole city from Phil Bredesen. The EDNAFUND can be flexible on contributions, I'm pretty sure. I'll bring the paperwork, but probably won't have a powerpoint, sorry.

Andrew said...

Kev, RE: Wireless internet--

Natchez Trace State Park now has wireless internet in the conference rooms, lobby, restaurant and some inn rooms.

So not in the villas.

Andrew said...

I second the nomination for "Dancing Outlaw" for the WOMV movie. It's incredible.

Brawny said...

Yep, I am buying the Cumberland and selling it to Georgia.

Actually, Friday I am taking off so I can leave whenever.

So who is riding together. Seth, Kevin, and I can ride 3 deep in the pickup but rain could be a problem with all our stuff in the back.

Who's my breakfast team again. I'm terrible at making pancakes.

JDL said...

I just checked my conference call info from DE double hockey sticks and its not working anymore.

I can get some new #'s it we need a conference.

I can drive 4 or 5, maybe more depending on luggage. Aaron where will you be coming from on Friday?

The Nunley said...

Kev and B, I think we should bring Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I am to busy to buy anything though, so I can cook but I can't buy.

Aaron in your personal post I am not sure what you mean. Never mind I just read it again and I got it!

Kevin, I can bring rock band again but I am the only one who has it? I would prefer to leave mine at home.

Andrew, I really think we should play ball.

B, I am off all day if you want to go down early. I planned on leaving around lunch or sooo.

Kevin, shirts and Cabin will be all calculated together once we are there or whenever I receive the full price. No air mattress.

Seth, Monkey Bread!!!!!

Landon, No hook shots in the tourney unless you are on my team. B-ball would take me back to when we use to play at the outside court by the pool. You were lights out over there.

Justin, can I get a what what! If we play together then we will always win.

Ross, I love you. Seriously I do.

Andrew said...

Just checked the weather for Natchez Trace:

Mid 50s during the day
Upper 30s at night

J-Lo, you're bringing firewood?

JDL said...

I am.

Kevin said...

Justin, what time are you leaving?

JDL said...

I'm going to try and take a half day off, maybe a full. I'll ask today.

The Nunley said...

Does anyone want to leave Nashville around 10 am?

Jones said...

Please tell me someone is leaving after 3:00 PM. I need a ride, but I have a meeting in Nashville at 3:00. Does anyone else want to pull into the cabin as the sun goes down?

Red said...

Seth, I love you and will still let you sleep in my house on Thursday but who schedules afternoon meetings on the eve of Man's weekend? Even workhorse England is taking the day off. God bless you.

Kevin said...

Seth, I won't leave until after 3. I don't know exactly what time, but it will be after 3. Give me a call sometime next week and we'll figure it out.

Andrew said...

I'm just going to say that there are such things as priorities. And some of you have yours all out of whack.

Kevin said...

has somebody called ross?

Jones said...

Kevin, thank you for staying, but we still have no car. Justin, what time are you leaving?

Listen, I am sorry to have scheduled a meeting at 3:00, but when I am begging for money I meet whenever they say.

Kevin said...

I'll have a car now.

Andrew said...

Don't tell me you just went out and financed one just to have a ride to man's weekend.

Kevin said...

7 day return policy

j/k i can take our car...carmen isn't allowed to leave the house while I'm not home.

JDL said...

I am going to try and take a half day on Friday. But I can leave anytime.

Kevin said...

i sent ross an email letting him know his presence is needed here. where is that guy?

RD said...

Thanks for the e-mail Kev. I've been out of town the past two weeks for work and have neglected the blog.

I've tried to read all 43 comments and seen something about basketball, monkey bread, and Roth IRAs. What do I need to comment on?

Basketball? Bring it.
Monkey bread? Hells yeah.
Lodge dining? Can I drink there?
Ednafund? Tell me where to sign.

Kevin said...

We'll overlook it this time. I'm just glad to see your font again.

JDL said...

I am leaving work sometime around 2-3. Maybe earlier if I can close some biz. Seth, Landon and I can probably pick you up after your meeting.

Landon, our plan for golf may not happen.

Kev, are you still taking your car?

Kevin said...

Yes, I am definitely taking my car. I'll be at work until 4:30 or 5.

The Nunley said...

i am guessing by no response, that know one will be coming with me around 10 am?

UNtil THen,

Andrew said...

I will be coming with. Only from the opposite direction. In a separate car.

Kevin said...

Guys, don't forget this place has a grill on the back porch. If I'm not mistaken, it has a gas line hooked up to it.

Kevin said...

Oh, Adam, I don't have Rock Band. I just thought you guys liked it. I don't want to unhook my Xbox either. I don't care if there are no video games anyway.

Jones said...

Ok, so us Nashville people should get organized, I do not want there to be a car of 4 people and then a solo car leaving at similar times. here is what I have heard:

Nunley - 10:00 AM
Brawney - No Clue
JDL - 3:00 or so
Red - Whenever JDL leaves
Jones - After 3:00 appointment
Kevin - 4:30 or 5:00

Lets hammer out some rides.

Landon and Justin, what are we doing for breakfast? I can do some Monkeybread if needed. Or we could just bring some raw meats and say that everyone has to cook their own breakfast over the open fire.

Since there is a shortage of beds, is anyone else interested in taking a few tents and sleeping outside?

JDL said...

I thought about bringing my sleeping bag and doing that Seth.
Andrew should be picking up my camping gear today, and that has the tent. I will also bring my hammock.

I'm also bringing:
- Firewood
- Log Splitter (not the sharpest, but it works pretty well. If anyone has an official ax, please bring it as well.)
- Surfer on Acid, or as the bartender at the pool hall called it on Ross's 21st birthday, "Smack my bitch up" (to toast our absent man)

I can bring the PS2 with Guitar Hero 3 since no one wants to unhook their precious systems. downside -> no drumming or Landon singing.

Andrew said...

Oh wait, I was supposed to pick that up today? Crap.

Aaron and I call dibs on the meat-a-palooza for Saturday night.

Andrew said...

Also it'll be 40 degrees and raining for you campers. Does anyone have air mattresses?

The Nunley said...

I will be rock Band 2! Boo-yah. NACHOOOO!

Kevin said...

Seth...choose your destiny! Just let us know so you don't end up stranded in Nashville.

We're one short this year (again) so, does that fix sleeping arrangments? There were two beds downstairs, but what size were they? And wasn't there a cot somewhere?

Andrew said...

There are 3 queen size beds (1 up, 2 down). I think the cot is by request only. If we request 2, we're good. If not, we're short.

Kevin said...

Don't forget the couch.

Kevin said...

Oh, I vote Dancing Outlaw for the feature presentation. Jesco White is serious biz.
