As Titans fans we all remember two years ago when VY entered the scene and almost turned our season around.
Sure, the papers call him a suicidal crybaby but what could he do with Chris Johnson in the backfield with him and receivers that have learned how to catch? We all want to know. It would be a great Thanksgiving to find out what would happen against Detroit.
They weren't catching much in the last few games, other than Brandon Jones.
But it matters not. KC is a much better QB, and Vince is not ready yet. I think the only way Vince will get in is if we are blowing out teams once we have locked up home field throughout the playoffs, and since we don't really blow out teams, its not looking good for him.
Yeah, I agree with all that. One more interception for high-sticking and I'm packing my bags! Coach of the year? I don't think so. Luckily, the injured reserve list has 2 of my best starting forward guard blockers listed as eligible for draft picks. Boo ya!
Wait a second...we're judging Vince Young's ability based on a year under Norm Chow, 4 quarters of preseason ball, and 3 quarters against the Jags. If you judged Kerry Collins by the way he played in preseason (Ingle Martin was our best QB in preseason) and the first half of this past game he would suck too.
You're lying if you say you aren't at least curious about what could happen if we put one of the athletes on the field back at QB.
But I don't want to find out unless there is no other option. If they put Vince in after home field advantage is locked up and he does well, will that lead to problems heading into the playoffs? I think it could. People will forget about Kerry getting us to the playoffs in the first place, and want Vince to play because he is the big star.
I will say, I was a big VY fan at first. He's an exciting player. But seeing Kerry play you see how vastly different they are at the position. Reading coverages, check-downs, dealing with blitzes, ACCURATE passing....Vince can't do those things.
I would vote for Fisher to work VY in in some kind of trick plays like the Steelers used to do with Kordell Stewart. I mean he is an athlete so figure out ways to get him the ball where he can do things with it in the open field.
I started playing Madden this year with Collins as QB and it is great fun. He is so slow but throws bullets.
VY is not ready. Fisher might be able to salvage him since he had a quality backup in the wings. Not this year. He needs to work his game, learn the system, find out who he is as an NFL player. Play him in blowouts, but that is all (with the titans ball conrol offense this is not likely). When you play a team with an athletic QB put him on scout team during the week. He will be a valuable asset some day if everyone is patient.
