Man's Weekend

OK! I got the dates and Febuary 29 through March 2nd has been given the green light. He also said that if we needed to change again we could. So place it on your calanders and Seth find away.

Second order of business: T-Shirts. What design do you guys want? I could get a regular for cheap but I am not sure about a picture. I think a pocket-t with small Label on the pocket and then on the back a large picture or quote or Name for this Man's Weekend ( like Sethless, but I hope that is not the case Seth or the Quest for the Golden Duke).

I will check the blog all day for ideas.

I don't know how I feel about a pocket tee, but I could go either way with that.

I like "Man's Weekend IV" or "Man's Weekend 4" or "Man's Weekend 2008" or "WOM IV" for the front left breast.

For the back, I like either the picture of the 9 of us on the tractor. If that's not possible than I'd go for "The Chase(Search, Quest) for the Golden Duke"

Again, let me reiterate. A T-shirt for a weekend of this caliber requires, nay demands, a quality t-shirt. I've been looking through my favorite tees and my favorites usually have some bit of polyester to it.

Adam, I would suggest going in and looking at all our options. Touch the shirts, feel them, rub them on your face, take one home and wash it to see what it does....

Color? I'd vote for gray shirt with maybe green, yellow, red writing.

You can tell I've put some thought to this..

Andrew said...

By red writing, I mean a maroon-ish red...

Red said...

I'm vehemently against the pocket tee. Other wise I trust the general ingenuity of our group with the naming of Man's Weekend IV.

Red said...

If you need any pictures of me chopping down a tree, I can supply.

The Nunley said...

what color green?

Andrew said...

For the writing? Maybe a forest green, but that might not show up on a gray shirt...

RD said...

I think the forest green would work on gray.

Also, I think a picture of Landon chopping wood with the fury of a thousand tidal waves would be good. It really sends the message that we aren't messing around.

Andrew said...

I think we should reference the Golden Duke somehow in this year's tee...

..but for a future tee: "Paddy Doyle Fun Run For the Cure"

I like the Forrest Green talk, but would also like a gray shirt. Please make sure that they have youth larges so that I'll have one that fits. If I'm stuck with an Adult Large I'll be pissed.

Front Left Breast:

Man's Weekend 2008
February 29 - 31

Back:
Centered but grayed out slightly the tractor picture or one of those pictures of us around the fire from last year.

Written over the picture a poem, which Andrew can compose. I'll give you a head start.

On that morn long ago
When God created Man
Who could know the glory
Who could understand

That from that humble start
Of ground dust and dirt
The pinnacle of creation
Would never need a shirt

The years wear on
Like a rusted out Chevy
But lo the burden long
Never seems heavy

For by God Man gains strength
Whatever may lie ahead
With shoulders back and head high
He presses on instead

The path may bring turns
enemies foes or friends
Whatever lot is cast
Bring them to Man's Weekend

OR

Two balls in a sack
They don't make me puke
Rather they give me strenth
I claim the Golden Duke

I also prefer the Polyester, a 60/40 blend is always nice.

Landon, your peom made me think of the poem you wrote for that jar of apple butter in Tech Village. Then I thought about the Menonite Community. Then I thought that Muddy Pond is a great place to hole a future Man's Weekend. I can think of nothing more manly than a weekend with the Menonite Men learning how to make furniture, the art of irn working, and how to make fresh sorgum syrup using mule power. Also a great event in the manlympics would be hooking each one of us to the mule's harness in the syrup mill to see how much syrup we could produce in 30 minutes.

Landon, I cried a little just now.

Of course the shirt would be around $58 with all those words. I mean, I'd pay for, don't get me wrong. That is awesome.

Adam, we all trust your judgement and creativity with the shirts. I know they will be awesome.

Small tweak for the left front breast:

(centered)
Man's Weekend IV
Feb 29-Mar 2, 2008
(centered)

Landon, Laura couldn't read that poem to me she was laughing so much, I had to come read it for myself. It was O-Mazing.

Speaking of O-Mazing, you should YouTube "O-Mazing Grace"

As long as the shirt is high quality and looking good, I will wear it. Do we need to list past winners anywhere?

The Nunley said...

What about the Brady Bunch picture on the back?

What about Man's Weekend IV
2008 (Left Breast)

Picture of the Tractor on the back With "The Hunt for the Golden Duke" on top.

Or we could do the same shirt but with Man's Weekend IV 2008 below the picture. So on the front left breast some sort of symbol for the weekend.

Please list past winners my good friend Justin.

Also,
Adam Duncan has shown his guy friends pictures of our past weekends in a effort to rally them into an annual celebration of manliness. (posers)

We are pioneers.

H-ville boys, Chad Scruggs recognized you. I think that's an honor, considering how much he and Landon resemble each other.

I touched the Golden Duke today. One hour later, I was still doing pull-ups. I don't remember how I got there.

RD said...

Apparantly the jock strap Landon used when fashioning the Duke once belonged to Patty Dolye, or as I like to call him, "The Godfather".

Andrew said...

"Man's Weekend IV 2008" seems a bit redundant.

Here's my final answer and it should be yours as well:

Front left breast:
Man's Weekend IV

Back:
1. Tractor Picture
2. Caption over pic: The Hunt for the Golden Duke
3. Caption under pic:
February 29-March 2, 2008

Rationale:
-Picture of us with guns=hunting=golden duke (you get the point)

-Opens possibilities for next year's shirt: "The Hunt Continues"

-The Brady Bunch pic has Seth on it twice...defeats the purpose, especially if he isn't even coming.

Seth: What's your final answer concerning the weekend?

The Nunley said...

I don't like having the date because it changes each year. Maybe we could mention something about the leap year.

Long or Short Sleeves.

Justin I think you should compile another pole for this and let the people vote. One pole on design and another on color.

UNtil THen,

Andrew said...

I don't get your point about the date changing. Next year, just put whatever date we have it. The shirt would just say Mar 3-5, 2009 or whatever.

I vote for short sleeve.

RD said...

Short sleeve, I like having the date on it.

I watch "O-Mazing Grace" on YouTub and had to stop about 30 second in. It was just too painful to watch.

JDL said...

I have one up for sleeves.

As for the design, that's just too much.

We need some pictures/designs to vote on. Someone get to work on that. Then we can name them (exhibit A, B....etc) and THEN we can get a poll going for that.

MJS said...

You guys have a lot of polls.

I know Kev is just messing around but that would be awesome on the shirt somewhere.

JDL said...

Short sleeves is winning by a landslide.

Let's get some draw-ups for designs.

Your poll-master,
Justin

I'm closing the pole. Short sleeves is the winner.
