The games of the 3rd Manlympics

Here are the games, I have some tweaking to do, but this should give you a place to start practice. When I say "practice" I mean take off work all next week.

- Mystery (This will be a surprise, and will happen first thing Saturday morning)

- Atlas Throw (Boulder toss, measurement taken from the distance thrown thru the air, roll DOES NOT count)

- Football Punt (Total distance through the air AND on the ground, Roll DOES count in this event)

- Clay Target shooting (5 shots and 5 clay targets)

- Paper Target accuracy (Target points are added up after 6 shots from a distance of 10 paces)

- Guitar Hero 3 (Pick a level, pick a song, points from the game determine placement. Key takeaway, if you fail the song, you will be awarded no points. there will be time to practice if you need it)

- Relay race (Similar to the 1st weekend of men, events will be revealed Saturday)

- Written test (A random sampling of Manly trivia and knowledge)

- Bocce/horseshoes tournament - (Placing from the tournament determines points. We can do both horseshoes and Bocce, or just one. Place your vote in the comments)

What we will need:
Brandon England, Horseshoes, Bocce balls, a football, Guns, Ammo, Clay and paper targets. I will supply everything else.

If you have any suggestions for other games, you should win and do it differently next year. As John Locke said on Thursday's Lost, "This isn't a democracy, it's a dictatorship." OK, not really, but I wanted to use that line.

Obviously The Duke is up for grabs, but I have prizes for 2nd & 3rd place this year. They don't kick as much ass as the Duke, but they are pretty funny.

Now, what say you!?

it IS okay to post on the weekend isn't it???

Aaron said...

i see...so you guys don't ready this unless you are wasting time at work...

and i unfortunately have to work today so therefore am the only one reading this.

I guess there are more important things to do than read and comment about the pinnacle of manly competition that is only 5 days away.

Aaron said...

I guess you are right Justin... what a sad thing... i should have brought guitar hero to work so i could wail the wammy bar in my call room.

JDL said...

I think your patients would respect you more if you could beat "One" by Metallica on Expert.

Not everyone can comprehend expressing a cyst or re-attaching a severed arm, but they can with Kirk Hammett's sweet solos.

RD said...

I don't post on the Sabbath.

Excuse me for trying to keep my priorities straight.

Aaron, I'm going to call you this week to work out some details about the car swap.

The Duke is coming home to Memphis. Book it.

The Nunley said...

Bocce! Justin do you want me to bring my ps3 and Rockband?

UNtil THen,

Andrew said...

I think just Guitar Hero. We don't want to bring items (Wii, Rockband, etc) that could possibly turn Man's Weekend 4 into the Man's Weekend 2 fiasco.

But that's just my opinion...

JDL said...

Off the subject, my sister had to go to the hospital this morning because she was having contractions. Please say a prayer for her this morning. thanks guys.

Andrew said...

How far along is she?

JDL said...

I personally would like Rockband to be there, I love playing the drums.

I can bring an extra TV if needed. We have one just sitting in storage.

Nun, are you taking Friday off? What time is everyone getting there?

JDL said...

She's about 5 and 1/2 months.

The Nunley said...

I am leaving right after school at about 3:30. I will bring Rockband and PS3. I think with a set schedule for events we will be fine.

UNtil THen,

JDL said...

Landon and I are meeting here and driving, and Nunez and Brandon are carpooling, right?

Kev, what does your Friday look like?

my beard has grown 6 inches in the last few minutes in excitement of this weekend.

JDL said...

What became of the shirt? Are they in?

Kevin said...

I'm going to try to get off around lunch on Friday, maybe a little earlier. It depends on what happens this week.

The Nunley said...

Shirts are in and they were 12 bucks a piece. B and I are riding together and Kevin I will call you to see if you can leave with us.

UNtil THen,

PS- Please money for your shirt. Seth mail me a check and I will mail you yours. What is your address?

The Nunley said...

Does everyone remember how to get there? Kevin you want to ride?

RD said...

First, JD. Is there any update on your sister?

Second, Nunley. I think some directions would be good. Either an email to us or a G-Maps link.

Third, Man's Weekend is upon us. wOOt!

JDL said...

She is doing better. She's not having any contractions currently. So, good news.

Andrew said...

I have Nunley's enigmatic directions from last year:

1. I-40 to Exit #137
2. South for 5.4 miles
3. Follow "Driftwood" signs
4. Take a right/Go 2.1 miles
5. Take a left/Cross over bridge
6. 1st Right/Go 2.9 miles
7. @ Y in road, go right
8. Go a few yards/take Left
9. Follow road to cabin @ top of a hill. It is blue-gray with a detached garage

And hopefully a tractor in the driveway.

RD said...

JD, good to hear. Hope she keeps improving.

And, yes those directions served us well last year. Who needs road names anyways? Aaron good luck finding it in the dark.

P.S. I'm going to follow these directions just like Michael from the office did when he used the GPS system in his car. "If the computer says stay straight, you stay straight, I don't care if there is a lake in my way. Technology never does you wrong."

Jones said...

Justin, I hope you sister is ok. Aske her if she is staying hydrates. Jennifer used to have alot of Braxton Hicks contractions until she started hydrating herself better.

Aaron, if I am giving terrible advice please give your second opinion.

Nunley, 2214 Glenwood Dr. Cleveland TN 37311. Send me your address.

Ross, did you go to the game last saturday, or did you make a quick G? If you went I heard it was one of the best games in college basketball in a while. I am friends with one of the UT coaches, I should have given you his name so you could heckle him.

I am excited, yet I have tears in my eyes while reading the comments on this post.

RD said...

Seth, I did make it to the game on Saturday. It was heart breaking, but amazing at the same time.

Kevin said...

I got lost last year trying to leave. I was a little bit afraid. Nunley, yes, I do want to ride. Are you going home after school? Maybe I'll get Carmen to take me to work that morning and you can just pick me up from my office. Just tell them you're there to see Mr. Kingsbury.

Andrew said...

Kevin, you might want to check with JD and Red to see what time they're meeting. I think you mentioned you were planning on getting off around lunch and you might not want to wait until Adam and B leave around 3:30-4:00.

Thanks for the help with the Firefox.

JDL said...

Firecrotch and I talked about playing golf and then heading down. So we would probably be there around the same time as Numnuts.

Everytime I have referred to Numblo, it has been in a nickname. I like that.

JDL said...

Andrew,
You looked great on TV. I think Meredith digged both of us. I really wish I had known about Operation Viera. I could have done more than just say, "well, you know...uh, yeah. "

RD said...

JD, are you kidding me? You're "Hello Viera" line was awesome. She was totalling cutting eyes at you on the screen.

Andrew, your show was awesome. You looked good, you played good. You won some serious cash, so in your own words, "What momma wants, momma gets." Classic.

elizabeth said...

I hope it's okay that I'm leaving an uninvited post, but I wanted to let Andrew know what a super star he is here in Hendersonville. Also, I have to tell you both, Andrew and Justin, that Meredith was totally flirting with the both of you. I thought that she was smitten with Andrew from the beginning, and then flirted with Justin too. It was hilarious. Yall both did great.

Jones said...

Andrew, you represented us well. Seeing you on there made me realize that I could never be on a show like that. I was so nervous for you that I was almost in lockdown mode. If I had been the one in the chair it would have been ugly.

Justin, great job. It was not obvious at all that you were furiously surfing the internet, especially with a comment like "I see canopy".

Laura, I think you did great also. That was the longest interview with the wife/mom/dad/friend of the player I have ever seen. Good job, I hope you are enjoying family dinner at the table now.

Andrew said...

Elizabeth, can you really blame her?

JDL said...

Seth,
That was the low point. I don't know what came over me. I became the blathering idiot I root against when I watch at home. I just started talking.

Andrew said...

Justin, go to google and type "canape" and tell me what the first hit says.

Andrew said...

Blake, I don't know who you are or how you stumbled onto this blog, but I agree with you.

JDL said...

There is no F in way.

Andrew said...

Where the F did Blake go?

RD said...

Who the F is Blake?

Did someone take down his comment?

Andrew said...

I think "blake" is "justin". So I don't know what the F is going on here.

I need answers.

F.

RD said...

"I feel like I'm taking crazy pills."

F!

JDL said...

I was logged in as blake and made the comment. F me.

Seriously,
My sister has started labor again, and is probably going to have the baby today. Please say a prayer for them. We're about to head to the hospital.

They have a blog:

Aaron said...

R & A - what do i need to bring for breakfast? Ross, did you say something about me being able to borrow your car?

WOM4 begins in a little over 24 hours!

Andrew said...

Doctor, we are taking care of the food situation. Just bring some cash and we can settle up when we get there.

Ross, call Aaron.

Aaron said...

you will have to email me ross. i am working all night. grayad at missouri dot com

RD said...

Aaron,

I'll email you today to work out some details, but to answer the bigger question, you can borrow my car.
