I thought we should go ahead and officially discuss this year's Weekend of Men. We all lead busy lives and some of us are having babies, so I thought it best we get it scheduled early.
Seth has a baby due in March and has requested the weekend be moved to Februrary. I think we can do that. What say ye?
Here are the weekends in February:
Feb. 1-3
Feb. 8-10
Feb. 15-17 (Feb. 18 in President's Day and some of us have that off, something to think about.)
Feb. 22-24
Adam, you would need to check with your half-step-grandfather-in-law-twice-removed about cabin availability. Is that still open to us?
Let's get this train rolling for Weekend of Men IV!!!

Yes, let us this train!
February...wow, cold. Good thing guns work in the cold because I want to shoot something.
EDITED!
I can do almost any weekend, including this weekend. The Duke is ready to be defended!
This weekend it is! See you all then.
men,
I vote for Presidents day! Time off and more time to be manly. Once the day is set I can check and I am sure that it will be open. Now a bonfire will be worth it, especially on the point! That is a new place to have the fire. I scoped it out last time. We can have one inside as well. Can we include some events that include balls? Like footballs or something.
UNtil THen,
I vote President's Day weekend as well. I have a teacher's inservice on President's Day, but no students, so I could have an extra day to recover before teaching again.
So that's 2 votes for President's Day Weekend.
we win
3 votes. No day off or anything like that for me, but I'm on the band wagon.
Adam,
Footballs may or may not be included in the games this year.
We could always scrimmage the old folks in the neighborhood. Me thinks it would be a blow-out.
Basketball, Tennis balls, baseballs, boccie balls?
Yes for President's day.
I can't do president's day. We are getting our new furniture that day. Sorry.
Kevin,
You have 3 and a half months. Let's find a time to get it earlier.
Also, we will be back for Presidents Day, this is the weekend before. So you can go shopping when you get back, Nancy. Also, isn't that what movers are for?
Sorry if I am being so negative. Stressful day at work, and the dog crapped in her crate......again.
I am for Prez. Day Weekend. It is the perfect weekend for us. Justin, can I petition for a chainsaw competition? I can provide the equipment.
We pressed our luck with guns last year. I don't think I can get chainsaw's approved by the board. (Katie)
@JDL
"Also, isn't that what movers are for?"
No, movers move things, not buy things. We have no furniture except for our bedroom furniture. I sold the rest with the house. President's Day at a furniture store is like the sale of all sales. We need 3 couches, 2 loveseats, and God knows what else. But, if I will be back in town to able to take advantage of the low prices on President's Day proper, then I'm down for that weekend as well.
Seth, bring the saws so that I can cut off Lippy's legs. He's gonna look real funny as a torso in a golden jock strap.
President's day should work for the reigning runner up in the Race for the Golden Duke. The seventeenth is John Baker's first birthday, I'm not sure how Kandice will feel about that. If she's upset, I'll just create another golden duke for John Baker and leave it for him to open. How could she be mad then?
Kev, my reason for the quesh is your wife is picking out the furniture, and movers can move it in. Why do you need to be there?
As previously stated, chainsaws have not received the necessary sanctions yet. And with your violent streak, they probably never will.
Landon, your argument is airtight. Go with it.
I'm against the chainsaws. One, Seth might leave that weekend without his hood or his warrior, anything can happen. Two, we would have to haul in a bunch of wood. I work in an office and am getting weaker everyday. Three, I would be willing to bring chainsaws if Adam's Great Step God Father allowed us to cut down one of his trees. The neighbors would probably even help us.
Dang it Justin, has your brain gone soft? Carmen can pick out stuff for the living room and the Stacy Solarium, but the movie room is mine. You want to sit in movie theater chairs when you visit don't you? Do you think she'll be able to pick out appropriate seating for watching hi-def Braveheart? She's a girl, not a mind reader. When I fart while watching Die Hard, it better be on leather and not flower print. For her movies she only needs a box of Kleenex, some chocolate, and a blanket.
Carmen, if you are reading this, I love you.
As previously stated, there are 109 days between now and Presidents day. That's almost a full year. Go look BEFORE President's Day and pick something out.
You can also go home Sunday night. So you'll be back in time to grab your purse and head out for the big day.
Now whose brain has gone soft?
Does this thread need to be locked?
I think the chainsaws are a good idea. Seth can lead a short chainsaw safety workshop and oversee the events, much like Andrew and Kevin helped with the firearms.
Of course all the contests will be won by Seth because he is the only one of us who has to cut wood to stay warm in the winter and make a new outhouse every 6-9 months.
At least I don't have any modeling t-shirts. Game, set, and match.
Game, set and match? Hardly. Why are you so set on attacking me? Propose another weekend already.
OK, that's it. Man's Weekend is cancelled this year.
Good but I am glad we are still on for 2008...
Eat a D, B!
He got you there teach.
Seriously Kevin, my wife laughed when she read your comments about turning down a weekend of Men for furniture. I like Justin's idea. You can go shop before hand and then on President's Day your wife can go buy it. Then when you get home it will either be ordered or even better delivered.
UNtil THen,
A. I said no to President's day itself (read my post). I was under the impression from your first comment that you were talking about extending it through Monday when you said "time off and more time to be manly".
B. I didn't "turn down" Men's Weekend. The point of the post was to find out what was a good weekend for everyone. The weekend is fine, President's Day is not. I have to work and I'm going to buy furniture that day.
You also said, "Can we include some events that include balls? Like footballs or something." Well you are in luck my friend, I just so happen to have some balls right here. You and Justin can share. A mega DX to both of you! Meet me at the point. You two are going in the river 300 style.
What is the word on video games this year? Are they a go? Someone mentioned Guitar Hero 3 I think. I don't have it, but I could probably manage to get it. Does anyone have another guitar for it?
A. Man's Weekend has never, in history, extended into a Monday.
B. If the weekend is fine, then why did you bring up the fact that you can't do President's Day (see A)?
And I'll meet you at the point and that will be the place where "WE FIGHT, AND YOU DIE!!!!!"
You can just buy 2 guitars and return one the Monday after President's Day, because as you've made abundantly clear, you are busy on President's Day.
I may be getting GH3 for Playstation, and it comes with 2 guitars. I'll keep you posted.
They also have Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock out now.
Something to think about.
Legends of Rock is Guitar Hero 3. The same.
Um, I knew that. I was just saying....
I'm an idiot.
And we haven't heard from the intern.
*pin drop*
He's too busy updating his Fantasy Football team.....NOT.
This has been the worst day for the EdnaBlog in quite some time.
Maybe it's the awkwardness from Kevin and Justin's pissing contest last week. Who's gonna be the bigger man and apologize first....
....for the good of the blog.
It takes a big man to cry, but a bigger man to laugh at him.
Kevin, I'm sorry.
Yours, (if you see what I'm saying)
Justin "Golden Duke" Lipscomb
2-time defending champion, Man's Weekend
Thank you, Justin.
Now back to your regularly scheduled blogging.
