Can I phone a friend?
Who has two thumbs and wants to be a millionaire? No, Ross, it's not Bob Kelso.
Give up? It's me! Last summer Justin and I went to Opry Mills to try out for the show. I made the 1st cut and then was interviewed by a producer. Later I received a letter stating that I was in the contestant pool. Well, when I moved I thought, "Oh well, they don't have my new phone number, address, etc, etc..."
Friday I received a phone call on my cell phone (the number I had given them), and when I called back they said, "Congratulations! You are ON THE SHOW!" I will be in NYC October 17 (a month from today) to do this thing. Men, I am 15 questions away from becoming a MILLIONAIRE. Well, maybe not a millionaire after Uncle Sam gets his cut.
Aaron, I will probably be using you as a phone a friend for any medical/science questions, so I'll be in contact with you.
Justin, any questions about Dell or Golf or sticking glasses up noses...I'm coming your way.
Ross, miniature shnauzer questions.....be ready.
Landon, questions about pregnancy, getting a woman pregnant, or compound interest questions are yours.
Adam, if they ask how to run a split-veer or a wing-t or a 50 defense, I'll need your expertise.

I knew you would make it. I have a fast internet connection, and Google can find anything. Call me!
Great, a post about a monkey playing drums gets 31 comments.
I could win $1,000,000 and it gets a single comment.
Justin, for your faithfulness to me and this blog, I will award you a percentage* of my winnings.
*not to exceed .05%
Andrew,
Lex just told me the news and I had to check the blog. That's awesome. In case you need to know my other areas of expertise include:
Scrubs & Office quotes
John Hughes movie trivia
Classical violin arangements (I bet you didn't know about that)
When do you think the show will air, or is it done live?
The show will air some time in April I think.
If it airs on April 1st, I'm not going to be able to keep myself from being skeptical.
Andrew, don't hesitate to answer, "that's what she said" to any question that contains the words "hard" or "long".
Not even 1%? That's low, even for you.
I still can't believe you will be on national TV with a chance to win "One million dollars"! I am totally pumped up......What is the capital of South Africa?......Who played in the first World Series in 1903?
UNtil THen,
Quiz Coach
And, 31 comments wasn't in one day. It's kinda like the time I taught a Yodeling class.
If you ever teach a yodeling class, probably the hardest thing is to keep the students from just trying to yodel right off. You see, we build to that.
There are 3 capital cities of South Africa:
Pretoria
Cape Town
Bloemfontein
1st World Series:
Boston Americans vs. Pittsburgh Pirates....Boston won the best of 9 series 5 to 3.
Keep 'em coming. Nunley, I instituted Stump Stacy today. It will be on Friday.
JD,
That percentage from andrew would be $500 (before uncle Sam got his greedy paws on it). With that money you could buy a minature shnauzer puppy and join the club.
We're getting a Lab. Thanks for the invitation though.
I am so impressed, Andrew. That show needs your personality, and you needs it's money from advertisers. Yes, these winnings will push you into the 35% tax bracket, but it's like I always say to people bitching about taxes, I wish I had to pay 35% of my income in taxes.
I will be available for all questions pertaining to children under 2 1/2 and to any questions on the black scholes option pricing model.
I just want to know what you are going to wear. Crackel Barrel apron???
Very cool man, very cool. We seriously need to start asking you questions every day. You and Ross need to start going to Trivia at BW2 a couple times a week.
Aaron, great idea.
Andrew, let your training begin. And by "begin" I mean after I eat 30 buffalo wings and down a 32 oz cold one.
Buffalo wings are neither from buffaloes nor are they wings. Discuss.
Buffalo wings were first prepared at the Anchor Bar located at 1047 Main Street, between North Street and Summer Street in, Buffalo, New York on October 3, 1964, by Teressa Bellissimo, co-owner of the Anchor Bar with her husband Frank.
Thanks to wikipedia, I will now be ready for any Buffalo Wing questions that they might ask.
Who won the 1988 Oscar for best actor?
Dustin Hoffman for Rainman
Notice the time of response by Andrew:
5:14 AM
The man must be studying his balls off.
P.S. Andrew, how is Maggie doing? and Are you going to the ECS game this Friday?
What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Justin, an African or European swallow?
Ross, Maggie is fine and is sleeping through the night. Well, at least until my 4:00 urination (which is every night, my old man bladder can't make it to my 5:16 alarm) That may have been too much about me.
Yes, I will be at the game. Do you want to do the same thing we did last time if Alexis is not planning on coming home? Meet at my place...ride together...go out afterwards....play with Maggie.
Random Maggie story: I was out taking her for a walk yesterday, when some dirty little kid on a fake Razor pulls up, gets off the scooter, comes over and just picks Maggie up. I was like, "Hey kid, don't touch my dog." It was weird...but so is apartment living. Especially apartment living in Memphis.
I'm rambling....
Yeah apartment living is something all it's own. I was over at a friends apartment and jumped a little the first time I heard loud noises outside the door. That happens all the time at an apartment, I know, but if that same sound happened and I was in my house, I would start hiding the silver. Different world.
I will talk with Lex about Friday. She is not working the gate, so she might come home first, but I would be down with still coming over a little before the game, seeing Maggie, and then hanging out after. Also, maybe not with the whole group. Maybe just the four of us, at the Saucer? I'll talk with my event coordinator and see if this plan is in the cards.
Now I'm rambling too.
JD,
Love your and Katie's blog. It's like a little window into your world, except when you need to put the blinds down, wink, wink, nudge, nudge!
We've had the blinds down and the windows up, because of the cool temperature. Not because we're freaks or anything.
We have stuff like that -noise- happen all the time. I think the people above us are remodeling their apartment. Or maybe they are building a new, smaller apartment inside the current one.
But you do get used to it. Or kick open their door at 1:30 a.m. in your boxers and tell them to "Shut the Hell up!" Both are pretty effective.
RD,
Thanks for the Blog love. We try to keep it real.
Nunley,
I'm adding our weekend as I type. (not really, cause I only have one keyboard) Expect some pretty harsh criticism on your style of Bocce (or Boccie as you like to call it. The i is silent, or slent)
Andrew,
Who is considered to be the greatest Bocce player of all-time (Hint: Justin Lipscomb is second on the list)
Funny thing is, I'm NOT rambling....think about it.
I have to send in my tax information to Adsense so they can start writing us checks. Landon, should I be worried?
The greatest Bocce player of all time is Peggy McBrayer, whom I intend on taking out for a lovely steak dinner and never calling again.
I hope you do great on the show, but if you get to the point that you can't answer, and you're giving up, please "guess" that the answer is Peggy McBrayer or Ernesto Nunley.
That would make my night.
Please Take my mom to a steak dinner. She would love that and she is good at bocce, the best. Andrew I would love it if the My dad or mom made the show.
UNtil THen, sorry sometimes I forget.
