Men,  I haven't posted in a while either.  While I have not quit my job yet I have some job news as well.  First I will start with a trip to the Bahamas.  It was awesome and we stayed on a 62 foot catamaran and it had a 88 foot sail (see picture at bottom).   Snorkeling I saw a nurse or sand shark.  Once we returned I saw the picture at the bottom and weighed 239.6 LB (I am fat).  So Andrew, I decided to start the REVOLUTION once again.  No cokes and a lot of exercise.  Then when I got back I also found out that my transfer didn't go through to teach at Hawkins.  Benny Bills rejected it himself.  Also the principal at HHS is now at Hawkins.  There is a chance that things still could work out but if they don't I will be looking for another job or a seminary to attend.  Any ideas?

5 Year Plan Begins...Now

You guys remember me talking about that at WOM4. Phase 1 was scheduled for June and I'm happy to say...the truck is sold. Phase 2, get something else (paid for) and then get rid of the car. I know I'm learning this lesson a lot later than most of you guys, but I generally take a long time to learn stuff like that. Yep, it's time for old Kev to give up car notes and start actually saving some of the money he's been working for. I had a good run though. There was the Jetta (I really miss that one), then the Civic, and then the Frontier. Next up, something probably about like this:

Neck tans and Ticks

I have a new job, and have had one for the past 3 weeks, and I enjoy it.

I'm working for Wynnecrest Landscaping, in the Mowing division. Basically, I do weed-eating and blowing (grass) a majority of the time, but I have run some of the mowers. We mow in Laurelbrooke (home to Mike Reinfeldt, General Manager to the Titans and a lot of other rich people) Carronbridge and the Enclave, all of which are Southern Land Company developments.

Some of these houses are SICKENING. There's one that is currently in the the middle of a $9 million ADDITION. I've been meaning to get some pictures but haven't yet. I will say that we cut Troy Gentry's grass, and he is a nice guy. I have encountered lots of ticks, but no Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotted fever (although if I had to go out, I'd pick RMSF. It would look good on a headstone) And I have never had this tan of a neck before. Check it out:



One fun thing about the job is that my mind wanders all day long. On Monday, I started singing:

As far as the departure from Dell, I'll say it was long overdue. Much like Michael Keaton in "Mr. Mom" I felt really good about being unemployed. I have had a few interviews, but nothing has come of those yet. Andrew, send me the contact for the FBI. I mean, I could be Jack Bauer. Here she is, the Odyssey. I never knew the hidden blessings of the minivan. This baby has leather, dual sliding doors, hide-a-way third row seat, and the speedometer reads 140. Malcolm likes it, I'm pretty sure that John likes it, and Kandice thinks I'm the greatest thing ever for getting it for her. It's a win all around. If anyone is thinking about having three kids but isn't sure about the minivan, be encouraged. I think you'll find it almost as good as making your third child.

By the way, if anyone has not experienced pandora.com please do so. Kevin, please let me know if there is any malicious spyware on this site.

I am Lost and loving it

More thoughts to come from me later but I wanted to get your initial reaction to the season finale last night. First of all, who still watches??? I had some major chills a few times during the show last night and I sure didn't know who Jeremy Benten (sp?) was...

What about Walt's post-puberty voice...pretty funny. I guess we should also make sure that we don't spoil anyones fun if they have it on DVR. So be forewarned...Spoiler Alert!!!

Memorial Day

What did everyone do?
We went to Georgia to see the in-laws.
Monday was spent indoors due to the rain. This was one of the worst memorial days as far as the weather goes.

My Dad...

Organ removal seems to be the soup du jour here on the blog.

They found a cancerous tumor in my dad's kidney this week. He'll be having the tumor and his kidney removed next Thursday. The prognosis is pretty good and they think the cancer is contained within the kidney and he won't have to do chemo or radiation.

Laura and I will be heading up that way on Wednesday afternoon. If anyone wants to come hang out Thursday or Friday at Baptist Hospital downtown, maybe we can hang out.

3 Ounces Lighter

Men, On Thursday night I woke up with what I thought was the most insaine gas pain ever. I laid in the bed for two hours before Jennifer convinced me the emergency room was a good idea. I found out at the hospital that I needed my appendix removed. I am proud to say that I am now a man without an appendix. Aaron, have you performed one of these? I am still in pain, but I am feeling much better than Thursday night. Also, my surgeon was the coolest guy ever. He told Jennifer after my surgery that "Seth had some calcified fecal matter on his appendix and this pissed the appendix off." Aaron, what is calcified fecal matter?

With Seth now a father of 2 and Landon expecting his 3rd, I've decided to get in the game. I realize I have a lot of catching up to do, but Laura and I will be welcoming a little one sometime around November 1st. I knew we were pregnant at Man's Weekend, but I was forced to secrecy until we told our parents.

Diaper Changing will now be an event for next year's Manlympics.

As I meditated on Man's Weekend IV, it occured to me that my sister lives close to Hollywood, Florida, home to Billy Mitchell. It turns out that she commutes to Hollywood everyday for her work. I immediately interrogated her as her knowledge of Billy Mitchell. She had not seen The King of Kong, but when I mentioned that he owned a restaurant, bells started ringing. The next day she was kind enough to take some live shots of the very Billy Mitchell enterprise, Rickey's. I told her that if she went inside and got a picture with Billy that I'd give her $100 dollars, she's a social worker, so that's a ton of money to her. She went in, but he wasn't there. She did not indicate if there was a Donkey Kong machine inside.

Baby Jones is Here!

I just wanted to let you guys know that Andrew Christopher Jones was born on March 11 2008 at 6:33 am. He weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 20 inches long. Here are some pictures of his first few days out of the womb.

Weekend Outlook

Here is what we're looking at for the weekend as far as weather goes. My only concern is that the area where we had our firearms activities last year is going to basically be a swamp this year. Even without the chance of rain on Friday, the ground is probably soaked from earlier this week's snow/rain and lack of warm air to dry it out. But, in case it isn't, someone needs to bring something to shoot at. We're driving up in Nunley's Corolla, so I don't think we'll have room to carry a good size backstop for a target. It probably needs to be a sheet of plywood and a couple 2x4's if someone could swing that.

P.S. I hope you like the bbq we had last year, because that's what you're getting this year for Saturday dinner.

The games of the 3rd Manlympics

Here are the games, I have some tweaking to do, but this should give you a place to start practice. When I say "practice" I mean take off work all next week.

- Mystery (This will be a surprise, and will happen first thing Saturday morning)

- Atlas Throw (Boulder toss, measurement taken from the distance thrown thru the air, roll DOES NOT count)

- Football Punt (Total distance through the air AND on the ground, Roll DOES count in this event)

- Clay Target shooting (5 shots and 5 clay targets)

- Paper Target accuracy (Target points are added up after 6 shots from a distance of 10 paces)

- Guitar Hero 3 (Pick a level, pick a song, points from the game determine placement. Key takeaway, if you fail the song, you will be awarded no points. there will be time to practice if you need it)

- Relay race (Similar to the 1st weekend of men, events will be revealed Saturday)

- Written test (A random sampling of Manly trivia and knowledge)

- Bocce/horseshoes tournament - (Placing from the tournament determines points. We can do both horseshoes and Bocce, or just one. Place your vote in the comments)

What we will need:
Brandon England, Horseshoes, Bocce balls, a football, Guns, Ammo, Clay and paper targets. I will supply everything else.

If you have any suggestions for other games, you should win and do it differently next year. As John Locke said on Thursday's Lost, "This isn't a democracy, it's a dictatorship." OK, not really, but I wanted to use that line.

Obviously The Duke is up for grabs, but I have prizes for 2nd & 3rd place this year. They don't kick as much ass as the Duke, but they are pretty funny.

Now, what say you!?

This is like 2 months earlier than we expected, but it also means that if I won any money, we'l be getting that earlier than expected as well, so that's pretty nice. OK! I got the dates and Febuary 29 through March 2nd has been given the green light. He also said that if we needed to change again we could. So place it on your calanders and Seth find away.

Second order of business: T-Shirts. What design do you guys want? I could get a regular for cheap but I am not sure about a picture. I think a pocket-t with small Label on the pocket and then on the back a large picture or quote or Name for this Man's Weekend ( like Sethless, but I hope that is not the case Seth or the Quest for the Golden Duke).

I will check the blog all day for ideas.

It was an innocent question, "Kandice, what do you think the record for most non stop pushups is?" I guessed a 1,000. Kandice said, " Yeah you know there's some freak out there that can do that." Seeking an answer I realized that some freak had done 10,507 push ups non stop. I also found a new role model, Paddy Doyle. In the spirit of man's weekend please take note of the following fitness challenges Mr. Doyle completed in 18 hours 56 minutes and 9 seconds:

Weightlifting 300,000 pounds in a single session
A 12-mile run

How was Christmas?

Dirty Santa

So, I promised a post with Andrew as the center piece and here it is. Andrew, as I start, feel free to correct any grammatical errors. I went to a Dirty Santa party not too long ago and came away with a great gift. Last year I gave a senior picture of myself. Andrew, without knowing I was doing that, gave an autographed picture of himself.
This year I took an autographed picture of Chuck Norris. I came home with a $10 Starbucks gift card and the picture below. Andrew, know this: I stole it and it was not because of the gift card. Just know that you are extremely missed from the Nunley household.

New Band

This is a new band I'm currently listening to, Arcade Fire. This is one of the songs off their second album, Neon Bible

The video is pretty awesome, although its not the actual music video. Someone made it from parts of "Once Upon A Time in the West".

A couple of things:
- The song is awesome.
- Charles Bronson is the guy in tan, and I think he was uglier when he was young. I didn't think that was possible.
- Henry Fonda has some awesome scruff in the clip. I can only imagine how incredible his beard or mustache would be.
- The Foo Fighters cover some of their songs in concert.

Cool Things of Life, Part 2

Since I am addicted to HD television I often check out some random programs. A few weeks ago I came across the Iconoclasts series that is on Sundance channel. Basically they capture two famous people from different professions and film their conversations and hanging out for a few days. It seems that the matches often have some sort of history together as well. The episode that I watched was Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam and surfer Laird Hamilton. The two guys surf together in Hawaii and Laird goes to California to watch one of Vedder's shows. I love how Eddie Vedder's voice when he talks is exactly like when he sings. He has some wierd earthy beliefs but it is cool to hear him talk about life and surfing. Laird is just straight up ripped. I didn't know that you needed to be that ripped to surf but it can't hurt. Having Gabrielle Reece as a wife and living in Maui can't be too tough either.

Laird Hamilton Trivia - Was Kevin Costner's stunt double in Waterworld (my favorite movie that critics hammered). Appeared in the opening scene of the Bond movie Die Another Day.

Cool Things of Life

Not to rain on Landon's awesome news (if you don't know what it is please read the next post) but I have a little extra time since I am on vacation and I wanted to share some stuff that I had wanted to post on here for a while. Actually nothing important just some random thoughts...

I have been a Foo Fighters fan for quite some time now and always loved their dicotomy of rock and acoustic tunes, sometimes mixed into the same track (ex. February Stars). I love that I can listen to half of CD while I am getting buff at the gym and the other half I while I am sipping on a High Life during a Missouri sunset. Their only album that I have owned was "The Colour and The Shape" which is one of my top 5 all time albums.

Well a couple weeks ago I was flipping through my HD channels and noticed that their accoustic concert "Skin and Bones" was in stunning 1080i. I only got to see a couple songs at that time but I was mesmerized and DVR'd the entire show for later viewing. The setlist for the show is the same as the album with the same name. (Check it out on itunes). I have come away from the show with realizing that Dave Grohl is a freaking musical genious!!! He played drums for Nirvana, has lead his own rock band for a decade and now they can pull off an accoustic set!?!

If you have HDNet try to catch it sometime. If you don't rent the DVD or check out some of the album on iTunes. They do lots of the classic stuff and some really cool new things. My favorite songs were... I can't even narrow it down...over half of the stuff on the album I could repeat over and over and continue to enjoy it.

Ross, thanks for the reference to me being a Dad in the last post. Though I doubt I have much wisdom to offer as evidenced by the things that come out of Malcolm's mouth these days, my "Dadness" is increasing again. Yes, the Lord has blessed us with another. After Aaron posed the question at last MW, as to whether or not anyone would get pregnant before us, I truly wanted to quiet any doubters, but Seth and Jen proved to be a match difficult to beat. So here we go again, Kandice is sick and we are excited. It's funny, at work the ladies think that I am forcing Kandice to have more kids, so I have to assure them that each pregnancy is consensual. We are excited and know that the nothing is certain with each pregnancy. I'd like to open the floor for any names, boy or girl, and also cast you vote on where to have the baby, Kandice keeps thinking that a home birth would be good, I think she's crazy, but it's not me having the babies. I compare it to me selling my car and buying a horse to ride around, apparently she doesn't see my rationale. Anyway, hope you all are doing well.

Also, Aaron, did you fly on a personal plane down to Florida. It seems like several of the doctors we work with have their own planes and licenses, you might want to check into it.
